Scene & Heard
Scene & Heard is an arts and education charity supporting children and young people in Somers Town, Camden, one of England’s most deprived wards. Their vision is to provide children with the support, attention, and encouragement they need to discover the power of their own imagination and where it can take them. The charity runs a series of playwriting mentoring courses, offering children intensive, one-to-one adult guidance as they write plays that are later performed by professional actors. These projects help boost children’s self-esteem, literacy, and communication skills, profoundly shaping their long-term social prospects and educational outcomes.
Funding from The Lightbulb Trust will enable Scene & Heard to continue delivering its programme of playwriting mentoring while expanding its impact within the community. The Trust’s support will help the charity increase staff capacity, introduce new activities, develop courses, and extend its programming.
