Ministry of Stories
Ministry of Stories is a charity in East London which champions the writer in every child. Co-founded by author Nick Hornby in 2010, they help young people discover their confidence, imagination and potential through the power of writing. The charity lives behind the secret door of its own fantastical shop, Hoxton Street Monster Supplies, which proves just how seriously they take the imagination!
Each week the charity provides free after-school and Saturday programmes for children age 6+ who live and go to school in their immediate community. Guided by their team of professional writers and volunteer mentors, young people explore all forms of creative writing.
With the support of the Greenlight Fund, their community writing labs will create a series of bold and ambitious creative projects over the next two years – resulting in professionally produced artistic outcomes from publications to performances, installations to audio. Together, we will help expand the number of weekly groups from 5-7, supporting up to 150 young people each week to write a brighter future for themselves.
