Magpie Dance
Magpie Dance’s mission is to enable people with learning disabilities to reach their full personal, social and artistic potential through dance. Our core activities of weekly dance classes; Easter and Summer Holiday Schools; workshops, performances and community ‘Days of Dance’; and Peer Mentor and Ambassador leadership training, are all geared towards providing a lifelong provision for people with learning disabilities – enabling them to achieve their full potential with Magpie Dance.
“Magpie Dance turn disability into ABILITY. The students SHINE at their achievements and grow in strength to strength. It creates a sense of family and belonging. I love that it gives people with learning disabilities a chance to do a fun activity in such a supportive and inclusive environment. My son loves taking part and it’s brought him lots of enjoyment” (parent)
Support from The Lightbulb Trust will underpin our delivery of 16 weekly dance sessions for our community; supporting hundreds of people with learning disabilities from age 3 upwards to take part in fun, accessible and creative classes which provide a lifelong provision:
“It’s such an important part of my daughter’s life. Magpie has given her purpose, friendships, responsibility and a huge opportunity to express herself in dance. Our family can’t imagine life without the Magpie family” (parent)
