London Sports Trust
The London Sports Trust is a charity dedicated to inspiring and cultivating positive change in disadvantaged young Londoners through the power of sport, life skills development, confidence building and education. Our main aims are to help disadvantaged children and their families to achieve their goals in life, sport and education, improve physical and mental wellbeing, life outcomes and employment opportunities, and resolve issues around anti-social behaviour. We do this through providing support, guidance and a range of targeted and self-empowering programmes including; Think Active, City Sports Academies, SAFE Camp, Time Out Together, Grow Your Business, Apprenticeships and many more.
Our delivery directly tackles inequalities around learning, mental health, employability, and social infrastructure and we wholeheartedly share your ambition around creating more opportunities for marginalised communities, resulting in increased life chances and reduced inequality. Every week, we support over 2100 children, young people and parents/carers from across central London through our innovative sporting interventions in partnership with local youth clubs, community organisations, schools and on behalf of local authorities.
The Lightbulb Trust collaboration will support high needs children from central London who are living with a disability including those with autism, epilepsy, learning disorders, digestive conditions, ADHD, physical disabilities and various other conditions. Only 22% of people living with a disability are in employment, and many require support to live independently. The project will enhance the lives of local children with additional needs and improve their long-term prospects. We will provide high-quality, extensive individual support during weekly activity sessions, an open weekend session, holiday provision and training and development opportunities. We will also host quarterly community days where the participants, parents, carers and other local community members can connect with others in similar circumstances and access wider support services.
