Dalgarno Trust
The Dalgarno Trust is a safe space for the local community to meet, build friendships and form a strong and supportive social network. They bring individuals of all ages from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds together so that they can fulfil their potential and break the cycle of poverty, ill-health and deprivation. The Dalgarno Youth Programme is one of its cornerstone projects, providing targeted and focused services for young people identified as vulnerable and at risk, emphasising early intervention. The project steers young people from crime and violence by offering positive choices.
Children in the community have had a lot to contend with in recent years as the community centre is a short walk from Grenfell Tower. The effects of the pandemic and the cost of living crisis have not been equal in society. Dalgarno’s youth workers live locally and are embedded in the community, therefore are uniquely placed to mentor and guide young people.
Dalgarno provides a safe and fun space for children to go after school to join in their busy programme of activities, including boxing, guitar, and cooking. During the school holidays, they run fun camps enabling local children to be active, eat healthy meals and be with friends.
Through the support of the Lightbulb Trust, the Dalgarno Trust will be able to continue delivering fun activities, guidance and encouragement to local children.
