Baraka Community
The Baraka Community Association works closely with Kensington & Chelsea’s most disadvantaged communities, furnishing them with the necessary skills, tools, and opportunities to surmount obstacles hindering their path to success.
A primary focus of Baraka is the delivery of highly effective educational support programmes, boasting a proven track record of success. Over the past decade, Baraka has aided students in securing admissions to esteemed universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, and UCL. Remarkably, some of these beneficiaries have transitioned into mentors, assisting the next generation in enhancing their educational achievements.
The disruptions to learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have exacerbated educational disparities, leaving substantial knowledge gaps to be bridged in the aftermath. The Lightbulb Trust has played a crucial role in supporting Baraka in adapting our educational support programmes to confront this challenge.
This support has encompassed the enhancement of our facilities, now capable of accommodating up to 36 students simultaneously in an environment conducive to learning. Additionally, the Lightbulb Trust has facilitated the integration of edtech platforms into our curriculum, rendering it more effective and contemporary than ever before.
In tandem with our educational initiatives, Baraka is committed to nurturing well-rounded young individuals. We offer regular outdoor residential team-building trips, as well as sports and leisure activities to our service users.
